Application
Europium trifluoromethanesulfonate can be used as a fluorescence source for light gels and fluorescent probes. It can emit red fluorescence, so it has a wide range of applications in biological fluorescence imaging, biosensing and optoelectronic devices.
It can also be used as a catalyst in organic synthesis.
It is a water-tolerant Lewis acid used in the Aldol reaction of silyl enol ethers with aldehydes.
