American Rare Earth Company successfully produced 99.1wt.% pure dysprosium oxide (Dy₂O₃) samples

Jan. 28, 2025 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — United States Rare Earths, Inc. (“USARE” or the “Company”), a company building a domestic rare earth supply chain from mine to magnet, has achieved a significant milestone at its Texas Round Top Project with the successful production of a 99.1 wt.% pure sample of dysprosium oxide (Dy₂O₃).

The dysprosium oxide sample was produced using ore from the Texas Round Top deposit and USARE’s proprietary rare earth extraction and purification technology, developed at the Company’s research facility in Wheat Ridge, Colorado. This breakthrough, validated by a third-party ISO 17025 accredited laboratory, marks a critical step for the Company as it demonstrates its ability to extract and process high-purity rare earth oxides from the Texas Round Top deposit.

“Our engineering team in Colorado, led by leading mineral processing technology expert Ben Kronholm, has made significant progress in the last year in unlocking the Texas Round Top deposit,” said Joshua Ballard, Chief Executive Officer. “In addition to dysprosium oxide, our team has now produced a variety of rare earth elements, including terbium and the light rare earth element neodymium. We are excited about the progress we have made in bringing this processing capability back to the United States, while unlocking the tremendous potential value we have at Texas Round Top.”

The production of dysprosium oxide is particularly important because it plays a key role in advanced technologies that rely on the unique properties of heavy rare earth elements. Dysprosium is a key ingredient in technologies such as semiconductors, as well as many NdFeB rare earth magnets, by improving their performance at high temperatures, such as in EV motors. NdFeB magnets are the strongest type of permanent magnets available on the market, and are the kind that American Rare Earth produces at its facility in Stillwater, Oklahoma. NdFeB magnets are essential to technologies such as efficient electric vehicle motors, wind turbine generators, and advanced defense systems, including missile guidance and control systems.

Texas Round Top The project has significant potential to become a major domestic source of heavy rare earth production, in addition to other critical elements such as gallium, beryllium and lithium, which are essential for advanced electronics and renewable energy technologies.

About USA Rare Earth
USA Rare Earth, LLC (“USARE” or the “Company”) is building a vertically integrated domestic supply chain for the production of rare earth element magnets. USARE is constructing a neodymium iron boron magnet manufacturing facility in Stillwater, Oklahoma. USARE also controls mining rights to the Round Top heavy rare earth and critical minerals deposit in West Texas, which has significant deposits of heavy rare earth minerals such as dysprosium, terbium,  galliumberyllium, among other critical minerals. USARE’s magnets and rare earth minerals are used in a variety of products in the defense, automotive, aviation, industrial, medical and consumer electronics industries. Texas Mineral Resources Corp. (OTCQB: TMRC) is a minority shareholder in USARE’s Round Top operating subsidiary.
